Emboo River Camp

Emboo River Camp is a luxury eco-safari camp located inside Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve, built on a bend of the Talek River. It is known for combining high-end tented safari comfort with one of the strongest sustainability programs in the Maasai Mara. 

1. Location & Setting

  • Location: Inside the Maasai Mara National Reserve, beside the Emboo River/Talek River ecosystem. 

  • Atmosphere: The camp is surrounded by riverine forest, giving it a secluded feel while still being close to major wildlife areas. 

  • Wildlife around camp: Because the camp is unfenced, animals can move through the area. Guests may see hippos, elephants, birds, monkeys and other wildlife from camp areas. 

  • Great Migration advantage: During the July–October migration period, wildebeest and zebra herds pass through the Mara, with river crossings occurring in the wider area near the camp.

Emboo River is an intimate camp rather than a large lodge. It has approximately six river-facing suites according to safari accommodation listings.
