North Coast Beach Hotel Kikambala

North Coast Beach Hotel is a beachfront hotel/resort in Kikambala, Kilifi County, along the Mombasa–Malindi Road. It is positioned as a relatively quiet North Coast getaway rather than a city hotel, with accommodation, beach access, swimming facilities, dining and conference/event facilities. The hotel's own site describes it as suitable for leisure travel, conferences and business meetings.

1. Location

Address: Kikambala, Mombasa–Malindi Road, Kilifi County, Kenya.

Kikambala is on Kenya's North Coast, north of Mombasa and around the Mtwapa/Kilifi corridor. The hotel's setting is particularly attractive if you want a quieter coastal environment while still being able to reach Mombasa.

The hotel describes its location as being on Kikambala Beach, just off the Mombasa–Malindi Highway.

2. Accommodation

The hotel states that it has 124 en-suite rooms and 196 beds, divided into:

Room type Number Notable features
Standard Rooms 94 Garden/ocean/pool views
Deluxe Rooms 12 Higher room category
Suites 17 Larger accommodation
Executive Suite 1 Premium/family-oriented
Honeymoon 70 m², designed for couples

According to the hotel's published information, rooms have air conditioning, Smart TVs, telephones, hairdryers, umbrellas and en-suite bathrooms. Suites also have minibars. Balconies are available with sea or garden views.

The published website currently lists indicative prices starting at approximately KSh 7,260 for Standard RoomsKSh 10,890 for SuitesKSh 24,400 for the Honeymoon room, and KSh 61,370 for the Executive Suite. These should be treated as published starting/indicative rates rather than guaranteed rates for your dates.

3. Beach and swimming

One of the property's biggest attractions is its private beach area and oceanfront setting. Booking.com lists an outdoor swimming pool as one of its principal facilities and also identifies rooms with sea, garden and pool views.

So the hotel works particularly well if your idea of a holiday is:

  • Swimming in the pool

  • Spending time on the beach

  • Relaxing in the gardens

  • Sitting outside and enjoying the sea breeze

  • Having a relatively quiet coastal break

Recent verified guests have specifically praised the peaceful environment, oceanfront setting and rooms close to the beach.

4. Facilities

The currently published facilities include:

  • Outdoor swimming pool

  • Private beach area

  • Restaurant

  • Bar

  • Fitness centre

  • Spa/wellness centre

  • Massage

  • Sauna

  • Free private parking

  • Wi-Fi

  • Airport/shuttle services

  • 24-hour reception

  • Luggage storage

  • Tea/coffee facilities in rooms

  • Conference/business facilities

  • Laundry

  • Accessible facilities

The hotel also says it can arrange baby-sitting at KSh 1,500 per day, with prior arrangement.

5. Food and breakfast

Breakfast is included among the property's highlighted services, and Booking.com describes the breakfast positively. The hotel provides a restaurant and bar.

Guest feedback is generally positive about the food, although there is at least one recurring-type criticism worth noting: one verified guest felt that the menu leaned heavily toward African food and wanted more European options.

So if you're looking for a full resort-style dining experience with lots of restaurants and nightlife immediately outside the property, this may feel more limited than a large Mombasa resort.

6. What guests actually say

This is where the hotel looks quite interesting.

Booking.com's current score is 8.5/10 ("Very Good") from 45 reviews, with particularly strong individual scores for:

  • Staff: 9.4

  • Cleanliness: 8.9

  • Value for money: 8.7

  • Facilities: 8.6

  • Comfort: 8.6

  • Location: 7.6

  • Free Wi-Fi: 6.7

The 9.4 staff score is probably one of the strongest indicators of the hotel's appeal. Guests repeatedly mention friendly/helpful staff.

One verified guest who stayed five nights described it as peaceful, praised sitting in the garden near the ocean, and particularly liked a sea-facing balcony room and the staff. Another gave the property a 10/10 and highlighted the beachfront location, sea view, friendly staff and breakfast.

7. Things I would consider before booking

Wi-Fi: This is the clearest weak point in the current review data. The free-Wi-Fi score of 6.7 is considerably below the other categories.  If you need reliable internet for remote work, I would not assume hotel Wi-Fi will be excellent.

Location: A 7.6 location score isn't bad, but it tells you that this isn't necessarily the ideal choice if your priority is being in the middle of Mombasa's restaurants, nightlife and attractions. It's more about peace, beach and resort relaxation.

Room selection matters: If the ocean view is important to you, specifically request/confirm a sea-view or beachfront-facing room rather than assuming every room has an ocean view. The hotel has garden, pool and sea-view categories.

Published rates vary: The hotel's website gives starting prices, but actual rates can change significantly according to dates, occupancy, meal plan and room category.

8. Who I think it suits

Very suitable for:

  • Couples looking for a quiet beach holiday

  • Families

  • People who want a pool + beach combination

  • Weekend getaways from Nairobi/Mombasa

  • Small groups

  • Conferences and retreats

  • Travelers who prefer a quieter North Coast environment

  • People who value friendly service over nightlife

Less suitable for:

  • People wanting a luxury 5-star experience

  • Travelers who need very fast/reliable Wi-Fi

  • Visitors wanting lots of nightlife immediately outside the hotel

  • People who want a huge selection of restaurants and activities within walking distance

  • Travelers primarily interested in being in central Mombasa
