The Majilis Resort

The Majlis Resort is one of Kenya's most prestigious boutique beach resorts, located on Manda Island in the Lamu Archipelago, directly across from historic Shela Village and overlooking Ras Kitau Bay. It combines Swahili, Arabic, Indian, and Mediterranean design influences with luxury beachfront accommodation. The property began as a private family retreat before opening to guests in 2009.

Location & Setting

The resort occupies a prime position on Manda Island, offering panoramic views across the channel toward Lamu Island and Shela. Guests arrive via Manda Airport (Lamu Airport) followed by a short boat transfer. The location provides seclusion while remaining close to the cultural attractions of Lamu Old Town and Shela Beach.
